For academics worldwide, publishing is a vital aspect of our tenure. From a holistic perspective it is one of the only ways for us to disseminate the research we do to a wider audience. Thus, my commitment to communication has led me to publish in three languages thus far with the intent to publish in Arabic as well. Since 2009 I have been a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal „Enseñanza & Teaching“, an interuniversity journal of didactics. The goal of „Enseñanza & Teaching“ is to provide a forum for the assessment of didactics and teaching.

Overcoming the challenges of collaborating across time-lines and academic traditions in achieving joint publication efforts – was not always easy…One example would be the time when an editorial re-write was returned and the turnaround time was five days and my colleague was behind eight hours due to her geographic location. So by the time I was ready to roll into bed, dead tired, she was dragging herself out of bed and we would have a four-hour window in which to work: one being still in the mists of sleep and the other in the torpor of exhaustion. However, the work got done and stories still get told.
